Another Sneak Preview of Things To Come

I know I said my scanner is in storage, but I needed to do this particular thing or I'd forget all about it. This is one of the many things I'm working on that can hopefully bring me into acknowledgement as an indie comic artist. I haven't put any major spoiling details like a logo or labels or anything until I'm completely confident that my piece is done.

I got quite a use out of The GIMP used to color this piece. It's amazing how details like using gradients for the sun and adjusting brushes to add subtle shading and detail. I chose not to shade my central character because I wanted him to stand apart from the background. Also chose not to shade the sign, figuring I'd let the crosshatching do the work.
