Chris Hart Coloring Page: Soup's On

It's not every day that a popular artist on this site offers you a chance to color one of his drawings, so you could only imagine my surprise when well-known cartoonist and how-to-draw book author Christopher-Hart offered me the challenge of coloring one of his manga-style scenes.
And he wasn't kidding when he called it a challenge. The open areas in the line art made using the Magic Wand and Paint Bucket tools rather difficult. I ended up painting it like an animation cel, but with each color on their own layer. I figured that would make it easier to shade. Not true. I still suck at shading.    At least I do have a good eye for color.

Lastly, working on a project like this is rather theraputic, especially if you're having a particularly rough time. I could say that for any kind of coloring project (pencil, markers, digital, etc).
